Wallaceburg emergency department reopens

With renovations completed, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance has now reopened the emergency department at its Wallaceburg site.

As of Dec. 1, patients and visitors could resume entering through the emergency department entrance, which can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week via Dora Drive.

Given the Health Alliance’s replacement power plant project, the entrance and waiting room were closed. As part of the work, the waiting room was updated with a larger space.

“We’re pleased to complete these renovations and provide an updated waiting area for our patients and their families,” Lori Marshall, president and CEO, said in a release.

“With the recent completion of our replacement power plant project at this site, and as we prepare to submit our Stage 2 functional plan documents to the Ministry of Health later this month, we continue to set the stage for our comprehensive redevelopment plan of this site .”

Those accessing diagnostics, medicine, ambulatory care, Victorian Order of Nurses, and rapid access to addiction medicine services are advised to continue using the main entrance facing Margaret Avenue.

Patients and visitors using these services may continue using the front parking lot. The main entrance doors are open from 6 am to 6 pm From 6 pm to 6 am, people must enter the hospital through the emergency department.
