A number of Ukrainian embassies have received packages containing animal eyes, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At the same time, the letter bombs sent to embassies, politicians and an air base in Spain are said to be homemade.
Five Ukrainian embassies and three consulates have received the packages, several media reports, including Ukrainian Interfax and Reuters.
The packages, soaked in a liquid with a “distinctive” color and smell, have been sent to Ukrainian embassies in Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Croatia and Italy. Consulates in Italian Naples, Polish Kraków and Czech Brno have also received the packages, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Nikolenko writes on Facebook.
In addition, the entrance to the Ukrainian ambassador in Vatican City has been vandalized, according to Nikolenko.
