Children playing, reliving and being heard is part of everyday life, but how much can a family really make noise in a rental property?
News24 have talked to Glenn Karlssonunit lawyer at the Tenants’ Association, who tells what is okay and what is not, when it comes to small children in an apartment.
– It is more permissive for children to make noise than other types of sound, even though children can make quite a lot of noise, he says.
Then a family with children can be evicted
But there is a limit to how much you can disturb your neighbors.
– I know that there are families who have been dismissed due to disturbances from children. It is not possible to be completely free from disturbing the surroundings just because there are children, but it is normal child’s play that the neighbors take, says Glenn Karlsson.
However, new parents don’t have to worry about a screaming baby.
– No, I don’t think so, it doesn’t look like that, and I hope there won’t be any such court cases. Then I think we’re in a bad place, says Karlsson.
