Sweden has been competing in the championship since last Saturday, including the important first branch which consisted of producing 110 covers of a three-course menu where the jury randomly selects five plates of each course for assessment.
In that moment, it went excellently, which opened the door to a top position, writes the chef national team on its website.
On Tuesday, it was time for the second branch, when the team would present a tasting menu that highlighted local flavors and techniques with a theme. The choice of theme fell on “Embrace” (embrace in English), which would symbolize cooperation.
During Thursday, the results were announced and for Sweden it was silver, ahead of the bronze medalist Norway. Switzerland won.
“We are of course disappointed that we didn’t quite make it all the way, the aim has been to defend our gold since we started training together as a team. Unfortunately, we did not have the margins on our side and it was a really tight battle at the top where Switzerland offered tough resistance,” says Jens Ericsson, general manager, to the national team’s website.
