Following Microsoft’s massive Activision-Blizzard acquisition, Sony, which has all eyes on Bungie, acquired Destiny producer.

Sony bought Bungie for approximately $3.6 billion. Creator of Destiny games and previously Activison-Bungie controversy Bungie will now produce games under the Playstation brand. Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, which took place 2 weeks ago, surprised not only the game but also the business world, and discussions began about Sony’s lagging behind Microsoft.

Sony buys Bungie, Destiny won’t be exclusive to Playstation

Bungie, which has an interesting story, is a game studio founded in 1991. The company, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2000, is actually the maker of the original Halo games. Bungie, which produced Halo: Combat Evolved for the first Xbox console, severed ties with Microsoft in 2007.

Bungie, which signed a 10-year contract with Activision in 2010, broke the agreement in 2019 and managed to take over the rights of Destiny. Bungie released the following announcement on the subject:

” With Playstation, we want to expand our common dreams and creative vision to make games suitable for all generations. Our journey begins today.”

Emphasizing that it will remain an independent studio, Bungie emphasized that future projects, including Destiny 2, will not be exclusive to Playstation.
