The pandemic has affected and changed the way infections occur in society.
Right now, many children are getting sick with the RS virus, and there was a long period during the pandemic when RS did not exist at all.
But since last year, as the pandemic passed, the RS virus has hit hard and now it is not only babies who can be affected, but also slightly older children.
And that’s because of a changing pattern of the RS virus and those who didn’t get the virus as babies have instead gotten it now.
– You develop immunity against the virus in a different way, which means that you might get sick a little later in life, says Fredrik Stenius, area manager at Södersjukhuset.
