Börje’s blood print

It was in 2008 that Berg and Salming met during a television recording of the TV4 program “Berg moves in”. Now the presenter tells about when she headed north to live with the hockey icon and experience both drama and bloodshed.
“One of my most memorable and beautiful recordings. We met Börje in Kiruna and made our way to his family farm in the village of Salmi. We all slept in the same room, on reindeer skins on the floor, to keep warm. Börje did not understand the team’s concern about whether the water we had brought would be enough. ‘What then? If it runs out, we just drill holes in the ice and get water there,'” writes Berg in a post on Instagram, see it below.

Börje Salming would leave a big impression on Carina Berg after the short time together. Simply by being yourself and showing off your entire record as a fantastic human being.
“When we got stuck with the scooters, Börje dug us up. When the camera broke, Börje fixed it with one of the knives he always had hanging from his belt (one for food and one for everything else). He carried half the equipment up the mountain, when we were going to hunt grouse, because the media Stockholmers just slipped behind all the time. He offered us whiskey and we played poker for matches. I had never played before, but won. Börje said it was because I played so unpredictably, like a fool. Then he offered to fork me in the arm. Like they did in Toronto when you became one of the team,” she writes in the post, see it below, along with several pictures of both of them.
“Thank you, Börje. I am so happy that we got to be your team for a week in February, there just over 15 years ago. And you our captain”.

That fork in the arm would become a bloody story for Carina Berg when Salming cut her in the shoulder.
– We make four lines on the shoulder with a fork. Then there will be four streaks of blood that you will have as scars for life, said Börje Salming in the TV4 program at the time.
