Tier List for WoW Dragonflight at Release – Which Class is the Strongest?

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

With the release of the new Dragonflight expansion, many players are wondering which class might be the strongest in World of Warcraft. MeinMMO gives you an overview of the currently best estimates. But as you scroll through the tier list for the classes, keep in mind that everything is subject to change.

Where are the numbers coming from? Currently there are no logs and only little data from the new extension Dragonflight. We are therefore collecting impressions from various sources to give you a first picture, including:

The assessments are still subject to constant change until there are values on which we can rely. The first Mythic dungeons open on Wednesday November 30th. From then on, the assessments will probably stabilize somewhat.

You should pay attention to this: Most assessments still refer to numbers from the beta and the opinions of experts and professionals. Accordingly, there are no real values achieved by real players to determine the strength of the classes.

Also, many tier lists take into account factors such as defensive abilities and class utility, as these are more important than pure damage in certain content. So you won’t find the strongest DPS classes, but the tier list of classes that can do best in raids and dungeons.

The first season and with it the first Mythic+ dungeons and the first raid open on December 16th. From then on, check out our World of Warcraft DPS Ranking for actual results across all classes.

  • 5 reasons why you should play the new Evoker class in WoW Dragonflight – And 3 reasons against

What makes the classes so strong? The demon hunter is the undisputed king in this area by all current assessments. He has the strongest AoE abilities in the game, is almost immortal and brings useful control abilities.

It’s almost the same with the villain. Assassination is traditionally the weakest spec here, but Blizzard often tweaks the balancing, so there may be shifts here. If you play rogue, you can be sure that at least one of your specializations is always popular in dungeons.

Monks and death knights mainly come up with high AoE damage, but sometimes also bring good utility with them. Death knights, for example, are popular for their death grips and can keep themselves alive for a long time or relieve the healer.

What about the weak classes? When it comes to hunters, Beast Mastery hunters are a bit ahead, but in general the class is weaker compared to others. They don’t bring anything with them that others can’t do, and they usually do it better. In particular, they lack defensive abilities, which, according to many experts, is the most important criterion in Dragonflight.

Balance druids end up in the C tier primarily because of their damage. If you can balance that, the class brings very useful cooldowns like Treants and Vortexes. If Blizzard is still working on the damage here, the class would also be found further up.

The release of Dragonflight was… bumpy. We were there in the chaos:

We were in the midst of the chaos that is the release of WoW Dragonflight: “I can’t accept anything here”

These are the strongest classes in the raid

Note that the raid bosses were only tested very briefly and many professionals are more reluctant to make their assessments. The assessments here are therefore more speculative than with Mythic+.

  • What makes the classes so strong? As in dungeon content, demon hunters and rogues rank high because of their tremendous damage. The exception here is deception villains, who generally did a little worse in the raid.

Amplifiers are particularly popular with Shamans because they serve as support for all melee combatants – especially warriors and rogues. This makes her a popular addition to many groups in addition to her decent damage – despite nerfs in the beta.

Druids bring useful raid buffs and abilities like a speed boost, healing and mark of the wild, and revive in combat in addition to their damage. Owls tend to be more popular and stronger than cats here because of their higher damage and range.

What about the weak classes? Paladins have the huge problem that they sometimes have the worst mobility of all classes. As a melee fighter, this is a huge DPS loss in fights with a lot of movement. In addition, their damage output generally falls behind most melee.

Marksmanship and Survival hunters have a similar problem. They are more location-bound than Beastmaster Hunters, and as a result fall behind this specialization. Their damage is relatively low and they don’t bring any useful skills for the raid.

Tier list for tanks and healers

These are the strongest tanks: At least wowhead has dealt with tanks and healers as well. We also looked around the class discords a bit. Very good news: all tanks are at least usable in Mythic+ and none are worse than A-Tier.

Warriors generally dominate dungeons and raids, which is due to the fact that, in addition to defensive abilities, they also bring massive amounts of damage and now have passable self-healing and stronger mitigation. A reason why we recommend Warrior as a class if you want to switch.

In the raid, druids, monks and paladins fall off a bit, but are still not “bad” tanks.

These are the strongest healers: It’s similar for healers: almost all healers are usable in all content. Callers and druids in mythical keystone dungeons can particularly stand out. Her group healing combined with damage done and utility is unbeatable.

Priests stumble a bit here as they can have trouble managing the large burst damage in the dungeons. More importantly, they don’t bring much group-useful abilities like control.

It’s different in raids. Almost all healers are on par here and almost every combination works. Only one healer falls a little further behind: Restoration shamans bring one of the strongest healing abilities in the game with their spirit connection totem, but otherwise they are behind other healers.
