KD’s regional outreach: Introduce more private care in child and youth psychiatry

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The Christian Democrats want to introduce a choice of care within child and youth psychiatry (BUP) to deal with the queues. Choice of care means that patients should also be able to choose private providers within child and youth psychiatry. Right now, around 500 children are waiting for in-depth investigation or treatment within BUP.

– All good forces are needed in child and youth psychiatry. Today, the region buys investigations from private care providers and an alternative is to also buy treatments from private providers for children who are waiting in line, says Mia Frisk (KD), outgoing chairwoman of the regional board.

The Christian Democrats want to invest SEK 15 million in purchasing surgery and treatment capacity from private healthcare providers in order to shorten care queues in general. Furthermore, they want to make the same wage investment as the majority with SEK 50 million for certain professional categories. On the other hand, they do not want to make the additional salary investment of 20 million that the majority makes on round-the-clock operations and the lack of strength within the region.

In total, the Christian Democrats’ budget means SEK 91 million less in investments in healthcare and public transport compared to the ruling majority’s budget.

– Before we make extra investments, we must know that we are using existing resources in the right way. And we don’t know that today. For us, it’s about using quality as a strategy, says Mia Frisk.
