The police searched for the woman during the night to Monday, including with a dog.
– There have been limited resources and pitch black outside, but now on Monday we are preparing a major search operation with a helicopter, the home guard and mountain rescuers, says Simon Wormö.
It has been about minus one degree in Haparanda during the night and on Monday morning the temperature is around the zero mark.
The woman is 160 centimeters tall, has grey-black hair and glasses. She may have been wearing a red/white speckled knit cap, black jacket and black coveralls. She has a hearing loss and only speaks Finnish.
