Protests against the strict Covid rules are growing all around China. Video footage that has been circulated shows BBC reporter Edward Lawrence being beaten and kicked by Chinese police, before being arrested and taken away.
Lawrence was held for several hours before he was finally released. The protests against the strict rules to limit the spread of Covid are seen in more and more places in China.
At the same time, there is also criticism of the ruling Communist Party and protesters are even demanding that leader Xi Jinping resign. The protests are spreading to more and more large Chinese cities and this is also having effects on the economy.
Chinese shares are falling on the stock exchanges around the world and the Stock Exchange in Hong Kong is showing red numbers.
