The US is now expanding the ban on Chinese tech companies. They pose a threat to the country’s security, authorities justify the decision against, among other things, the telecom giant Huawei.
In a unanimous vote, the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) hammered out the decision to ban the sale of new telecoms and surveillance equipment from a number of Chinese companies, not just Huawei.
Huawei has previously been ported from many countries, for example Sweden regarding the expansion of the 5G networks.
The FCC’s decision is expected to create new tensions between China and the US after hopes of a clarification. This after President Joe Biden and his colleague Xi Jinping met recently, as did US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and China’s central bank governor Yi Gang.
