The plans of the municipality of Nieuwegein anticipate a national bill to improve the position of sex workers. That proposal includes a registration obligation for sex workers and a minimum age of 21 for applying for a permit. For the new municipal policy, Nieuwegein is working with Houten, IJsselstein, Lopik and Vijfheerenlanden, together the Lekstroom municipalities.
