In the Tidö agreement between the government parties and the Sweden Democrats, there is a proposal for a law that states that “municipalities and authorities shall be obliged to inform the Migration Agency and the police when they come into contact with persons staying in Sweden without a permit”.
“All public employees”
When asked which professional groups would be covered by the obligation to report, Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard replies that she wants to wait for an upcoming investigation.
However, the chairman of the justice committee, Richard Jomshof, says in an interview with the newspaper Arbetet that it should apply to “all public employees”.
Hard to do your job
Several professional groups, including social workers, teachers and librarians, are sharply critical of the proposal and claim that they will find it difficult to carry out their jobs if this proposal goes through.
– We are probably pretty much in agreement that this is not what we at the library will do, report anyone, says Maj Eriksson at the library in Östersund.
