Tilbury man facing assault with weapon charge in connection to neighbor dispute

A 66-year-old Tilbury man has been charged in connection to an incident involving a knife during a neighbor dispute.

Chatham-Kent police responded to a neighbor dispute around 5 p.m. Thursday. Police learned an argument between two men regarding a traffic-related complaint escalated, resulting in the accused allegedly lunging towards his neighbor in a threatening manner while in possession of a knife, police said.

On Friday, police said the accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and later released with a Dec. 19 court date.

Chatham woman charged after pedestrian struck by vehicle

An 86-year-old Chatham woman has been charged after an 84-year-old Dover Township man was struck by a vehicle on Friday morning in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said emergency personnel responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Keil Drive and Grand Avenue.

The victim was struck while crossing Grand Avenue due to the driver failing the yield the right of way, police said. He was transported to hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

The driver, who was not injured, was charged with making a turn not in safety, police said.

Pair arrested on outstanding warrants

An early morning visit to a storage facility in Chatham on Saturday resulted in a woman and man being arrested on outstanding warrants.

Chatham-Kent police responded to what was initially believed to be a possible break and enter in progress. Officers arrived and found the man and woman were accessing a storage unit belonging to the woman and determined there wasn’t any illegal activity occurring.

However, police said further investigation revealed the 26-year-old woman and 27-year-old man, both of Chatham, were each wanted on outstanding warrants. They were both arrested and later released with a Jan. 9, 2023 short date, police said.
