Eight people are said to have lost their lives in connection with a landslide on the Italian volcanic island of Ischia in the Gulf of Naples.

The landslide was triggered after heavy rainfall and is said to have contributed, among other things, to vehicles being pulled into the sea. Earlier in the morning, several missing people were reported, including a family with a baby. Authorities are now urging the local population to stay indoors while rescue work is carried out.
