The Team Gymnastics World Championships are starting from an exceptional starting point – the absence of Russia makes the Finnish teams the number one favorites

The Finnish teams are early favorites in this year’s team gymnastics World Championships, because the Russians will not be seen in the competition. The foreign challengers of the Finns come from Bulgaria and Estonia.

The team gymnastics world championship has been contested since the turn of the millennium. Finland and Russia have been great in the sport and only twice has the world championship gone to Estonia, in 2001 and 2007.

Three tough teams will travel from Finland to the games in Graz, Austria: reigning world champion Minetit, OVO Team and Gloria. Only two teams from one country can participate in the finals, so the qualifiers already see a tight battle between the Finnish teams.

Although Russia is out of the World Cup competitions, Kapanen sees that the struggle against other countries will certainly be tough.

– When it comes to the World Cup, Estonia and Bulgaria will be tough teams. The competition will be tough.

Gloria’s captain also agrees Laura Airila.

– The Bulgarian team definitely challenges the Finns. In addition to that, Estonia has risen really well in the sport. The race will not only be between Finns.

Will Minet renew their championship?

Minet, who won gold at the World Championships held in Helsinki last year, have made small improvements to their program before the World Championships. The theme of the team’s competition program this year is film, more precisely a life story on film.

Minetit won gold at last year’s World Championships. The performance was inspired by the Kalevala.

Captain Sanni Hartman the team sets out with clear goals towards the World Championships in Austria.

– Our goal is to win the World Championship gold, just like last year. Let’s try to keep it to ourselves.

According to Hartman, the World Cup is still the World Cup, even if Russia does not compete there.

– Russia’s absence affects the level of the Games, because at least one team from them has always won medals. But yes, the World Cup is there, even if one team is missing.

The team gymnastics world championships will be held in Graz, Austria, on the 24th-27th. November. The qualifiers will be contested on Saturday from 16:30 and the final on Sunday at 15:00.
