It is not the State’s responsibility to pay for the spruce bark borer, which causes damage to the forest that costs many millions every year.
This is confirmed by the Land and Environmental Court in a judgment concerning the forest group Karl Hedin’s dispute with the state, where a forest area in Västmanland was damaged by spruce bark drills that the company claims came from an adjacent nature reserve.
Instead, the company must bear the state’s legal costs, writes DI with reference to the news agency Sirén.
