On Thursday, Radiosporten released the names of those nominated for the Jerring prize.
However, the 14 names presented have been met with criticism.
This as a specific name is missing – despite great success being reaped during the year.
The vote on who will be awarded the Jerring Prize is now underway. Among the 14 who are nominated are, among other things Armand Duplantis, Sarah Sjostrom and Nils van Der Poel. But it is a name that has been left out, which has stirred up feelings. Among other things with the SVT expert Andrea Jacobsson.
Star not nominated
Athletes who practice a team sport have a harder time winning the prize than individual athletes – the only ones who have succeeded are Zlatan Ibrahimovic which was awarded the Jerring Prize in 2007.

The name that Andréa Jacobsson refers to is the volleyball star Isabella Hook, who during the past year took home awards such as the Club World Cup, Champions League and Silver League with Sweden. She was also named the best female volleyball player in Europe.

“Thinks it’s sick”
Despite that, Haak is not among the nominees.
– I think it is sick that she is not nominated for either the best female athlete or the Jerringprset. After winning the Club World Cup, Champions League, Silver League with Sweden during the year and being named Europe’s best player. And that in one of the world’s absolute biggest sports, says Andréa Jacobsson according to SVT.
– I also think it’s about Isabelle not figuring in the World Cup and Olympic context, which automatically gives a lot of attention to the Swedish people.

Among other things, Radiosporten is in charge of the Jerring prize, and from their side you refer to the tough competition.
– It is extremely difficult to single out an individual active in a team sport, especially when the competition this year has been murderous and where Olympic and World Cup gold have been lined up, says Radiosportens Bengt Skött.
