Perhaps even more important than the short-term consequences are the longer-term effects of drug use, says Koch. “In my practice I see people who get into trouble, psychologically or financially. It all starts innocently enough with one pill at a party, but grows into an addiction for years. If we can prevent that at the information meeting tonight, even though only a small part by making it negotiable, then we are very happy.”
