David Nimhed has a buffer, in case something urgently needs to be repaired or replaced in the villa in Malmö. But right now he takes it off to cover the gas bills, which can be 15-20,000 kroner per month.
– I looked back at my annual costs and in 2020 I had an annual cost of 17,000. In 2021 it was colder, then it was 19,000 kroner on an annual basis and now the price is closer to 6 kroner per kWh and if you multiply that by my annual consumption, you get a horrible annual cost of over SEK 100,000, says David Nimhed.
The system is sensitive
This is a forecast and prices were at their highest in August and have fallen in recent months thanks to full stocks and reasonably warm weather, but the system is sensitive, says Eon’s purchasing manager of gas Emma Tronarp Trawén. But these are still historically high levels, she says.
– We must prepare for continued high prices, hopefully we can avoid extremely high prices and be aware that the system is sensitive to the smallest event that causes concern in the market.
Want high cost protection
David Nimhed is disappointed that, as a gas customer, he does not receive similar support to the electricity customers.
– The suspicion exists that we are forgotten and are too small a group, he says.
The Ministry of Energy refers to a meeting of energy ministers in Brussels on Thursday 24 November where, among other things, a proposal for a price cap on gas is to be discussed. Before that, they don’t want to give any information.
In Sweden, it is primarily households on the western Swedish gas network that use gas for heating, and the industries on the western Swedish gas network that use gas are the largest.
