Disastrous results, failed player investments and upset supporters.
There has been quite a storm surrounding Manchester United’s owners the Glazer family since they bought the club in 2005.
Voices have been raised for them to sell the club – something they have not even wanted to discuss.
But now it sounds different.
Credible The Athletic reported on Tuesday evening that the Glazer family could consider selling the club to raise investment that will go towards renovating the Old Trafford home ground and the Carrington training ground. Another option is to sell parts of the club.
Information that a couple of hours later was confirmed by Manchester United.
“The board will now find strategic ways to move the club forward. We will consider all options, including new investment in the club, a sale or other transactions,” the Premier League giants wrote in a statement on their website.
“Throughout this process we will look out for Manchester United’s best interests,” Avram Glazer and Joel Glazer said in a joint statement.
The American Glazer family also owns the NFL club Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which in 2021 won the Super Bowl with superstar Tom Brady in the team.
