One of the most formative horror series of our time has come to an end. After 11 seasons, 12 years and 177 episodes, The Walking Dead has said goodbye with a brilliant finale in which the family team has to join forces one last time to save the Commonwealth from collapse. The end of the series is not only an emotional endingbut also a tragic one.
Not all of the characters we grew fond of made it alive into the new era that is heralded at the end. For anyone who’s long since abandoned The Walking Dead or just curious how it ends, here we have one Overview with all figures compiled in the series finale have died or survived to have.

These 3 characters died in The Walking Dead finale
With a cast of around 20 leads, it was hardly a surprise that not all characters would survive the end of The Walking Dead. Even if the big carnage didn’t materialize and some people were safe from the start (thanks to spin-off announcements), there were still a few tragic and shocking character deaths to mourn.

After Luke is bitten in the leg by an undead, his friends decide to save his life by amputating it. He loses too much blood and dies. Luke has been there since season 9.

While trying to save herself and her daughter, Rosita is bitten on the shoulder by walkers. After the Commonwealth conflict is over, she dies peacefully in a bed surrounded by her family. Rosita has been a part of The Walking Dead since Season 4.
Over 30 characters survived the end of The Walking Dead
Fortunately, the number of survivors far outnumbers the victims. Most of the main characters we’ve been rooting for for years are allowed to continue their lives in the post-apocalypse. You are now living in a year after the Commonwealth conflict a new era of peace.
Here’s the overview of all the main characters who survived the end of The Walking Dead:
The epilogue of The Walking Dead finale also reveals that too michonne (Danai Gurira) is still alive and clad in samurai-like armor, riding across the United States to save her husband Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) who is being held captive by the Civic Republic. However, we end up seeing Rick in only one scene that plays parallel to the events of season 10.

Other supporting characters that stuck through to the end are: Pamela Milton, Michael Mercer, Max Mercer, Rick “RJ” Grimes Jr., Hershel Rhee (Maggie’s son), Tomi (Yumiko’s brother), Annie (Negan’s wife), Elijah, Gracie (Aaron’s adopted daughter), Diane, Nabila and theirs Children, Coco (Rosita’s daughter). And of course the dog survived too.
Not all of the fates of well-known The Walking Dead characters were revealed in the series finale. So it remains open what exactly made most Oceanside Characters (like leader Cindy) has become. The survival status of is also unclear Virgil (Kevin Carroll), who was last seen in Season 11, Episode 8.
As is the case in the present with the characters who migrated to the spin-off Fear the Walking Dead Morgan, Dwight and Sherry is not revealed in the finale.
The end isn’t the end: Here’s how The Walking Dead continues
Even though The Walking Dead has now ended as a series, more stories from the series universe will be told in the future. In the coming year, three new spin-offs will be launched. In addition, the 8th season of Fear the Walking Dead will be released.
The first new spin-off will be The Walking Dead: Dead City. In it, Negan and Maggie head to New York for a new adventure. Afterwards, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon opens a new chapter in the life of Daryl, who suddenly finds himself in France and has to make his way to Paris.
As the third new series, The Walking Dead: Rick & Michonne will return Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira as main characters. Focus will be on Michonne’s search for Rick Grimes, who has been transformed by his new life in the Civic Republic.
