In connection with the violent riots in several places in Easter, a number of deficiencies were discovered in the police’s riot equipment, reports the Police newspaper with reference to an advisory review commissioned by the authority’s internal audit.
National police chief Anders Thornberg has now given Patrick Ungsäter, the regional police chief in Bergslagen, the task of reviewing the issue of a national storage system.
According to the review, there is some local control over stocking and the status of the equipment, but this is lacking at central and regional level. For example, there is no comprehensive IT system in the area in question, instead you have to make manual requests to the regions.
Already in 2020, shortcomings of that type were pointed out in another review of the internal audit.
