MMORPG was canceled in 2021 – Returning now, but even worse

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

The MMORPG Astellia will soon be back online and will change its name to Astel of Atra. There has also been a lot of change in terms of content: the game is now based on blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Astellia was a Nexon buy2play MMORPG that launched on Steam in 2020. At the beginning of 2021 there was a Free2Play version of the game with Astellia Royal. When it didn’t go down well at all and the number of players continued to drop, the MMORPG was discontinued.

Now the new publisher GELIXIR Studios has taken over the MMORPG together with Studio8. On their website they are currently promoting rewards that are available for pre-registration. They also explain there that you can earn currency in Astel of Atra and exchange it for cryptocurrency.

Everything revolves around a specific currency

What kind of game is this? Astel or Atra takes the classic MMORPG world of its predecessor and adds elements that strongly shape the gameplay. You farm a currency called Chander, which you get through ores or dungeons, and then exchange it for either in-game content, NFTs, or cryptocurrency.

In order to be able to get the currency at all, you first have to put money into it and buy the Astel NFT. The price of it is still unknown, but the buy button is already there.

As for the gameplay itself, you know a few things:

  • The combat system is supposed to work with playing cards
  • There are crafting and life skills
  • You can purchase mounts through Chander
  • You can choose from 5 different classes: warrior, mage, archer, sage and assassin
  • The new publishers are not yet revealing anything about the story and the game world. The focus of Astel of Atra is clearly on the cryptocurrency. It could therefore develop like the well-known Play2Earn MMORPG MIR4, in which a lot of bots are on the move.

When will Astel of Atra appear? According to the official roadmap, the global release should already take place in the third quarter of 2022. But now that pre-registration is open, the MMORPG shouldn’t be too long in coming.

What do you think of Play2Earn models in MMORPGs? Do you think it’s okay to use NFTs, blockchain and cryptocurrency in it? Or will there just be a lot of bots again and won’t be a “real” game? Write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!
