SEK 27 billion. That’s how much the broadcasting rights for the World Cup are expected to bring in for Fifa – rights that account for 56 percent of Fifa’s income during the World Cup. SVT and TV4 are the Swedish television companies that will show the matches, but they do not reveal what the price tag will be.

Most expensive championship ever
Fifa covers some expenses connected to the championship such as prize money, referees and logistics. But the big expenses before a World Cup, such as building stadiums and hotels, are financed by the host country.
Qatar’s bill for hosting the World Cup is breathtaking in comparison to that of previous host countries. Over 200 billion dollars are estimated to have been spent on the construction of stadiums, subways, airports and hotels – something that is believed to benefit Qatar’s economy in the future as well.
