There may be major traffic disruptions in several parts of the country today due to heavy snowfall. SMHI has issued its second strongest warning, orange, in parts of Götaland’s east coast. In northern Kalmar County’s coastal area and parts of central Kalmar County, there may be up to 35 centimeters of snow.
In Västervik, where there have already been a number of traffic accidents in connection with the snowy weather, people are asked not to go out on the roads unnecessarily.
– If you don’t need to go out and go during this weekend, we think you should stay inside, says Joakim Jansson, rescue manager in Västervik municipality.
Yellow warnings are also in place for Gotland, Öland, southern Skåne and parts of the coast of Götaland and Svealand as snowfall is expected to move in during Saturday or into Sunday. These are also expected to cause traffic disruptions.
