Matchmaking Rating (MMR) plays an important role in League of Legends ranked matches. We at MeinMMO reveal what MMR is and how you can find out your own MMR.
What is MMR? The matchmaking rating is a value that describes your skill level and that your teammates and opponents use as a guide in a ranked match:
The matchmaking rating works independently of the actual placement in the ranked, with wins and losses affecting your rating. So, as a gold player, you can face platinum players with a high MMR, while you might face silver players with a low MMR.
What is my MMR? Unfortunately, it is not possible to find out your exact matchmaking rating. However, you can see a trend by looking at the LP (League Points) received after a ranked match:
The various MMRs of the teammates and opponents also play into the LP gained, but you can still derive a tendency from several matches.
There are also external tools. The Whatismymmr website uses various algorithms to provide the most accurate value possible. To do this, she uses the solo matches played in the ranked. The displayed value indicates a trend (example 1200 ±100), so your actual MMR is between 1100 and 1300. Whatismymmr also emphasizes that the more matches you play, the more accurate the value becomes.
How do I improve my MMR? Matchmaking Rating improves when you win a ranked match and decreases when you lose a ranked match. Basically, if you win more than you lose, you improve your matchmaking rating.
Is that also possible during the 2022 pre-season? LoL is currently in Pre-Season, so you can no longer earn Seasonal Rewards. However, your MMR is still changing in ranked matches.

What is the difference between MMR and ranking? That can have several reasons:
Is there MMR in other modes? Yes, there is also MMR in normal mode of LoL or in Auto Battler Teamfight Tactics. However, each mode has its own rating that works independently of the others.
