The star skier is tormented by a prolonged thigh injury

Johannes Hösflot Kläbo, the most successful male skier of recent years, injured his hamstring in July. The Norwegian wonder of versatility’s recovery from injury has been much slower than expected.

Recovery from the injury was thought to take six to twelve weeks, but the problem has been tormenting the skier for more than four months.

– This has lasted longer than I hoped and thought. I think I’m in week 17 with this injury. Now we have made a big decision to train less for a few days, Kläbo opened the situation to VG a few days ago.

An American physiotherapist is expected to be a savior

The multiple Olympic champion has sought help for his injury from an American physiotherapist From Megan Stowel. Stowe and Kläbo, who previously worked with the NBA club Milwaukee Bucks for years, met when the skier was at one of his high-altitude camps in Utah, USA.

Stowe has been working on the Norwegian’s body for up to four to five hours a day so that Kläbo could open his season this weekend in Beitostölen at the Norwegian National Games.

On Tuesday morning, Kläbo, known for his explosive power output, tested the route for the first time since his injury in a traditional interval training. In particular, maximum-power traditional skiing puts a strain on the hamstrings.

– It feels ok, nothing more or less, Kläbo commented For the Norwegian broadcasting company NRK (you switch to another service) on Tuesday during practice.

According to the skier, it is important to know how the leg feels during the day. Kläbo had yet another skiing practice in the afternoon. The afternoon and evening program is very simple.

– Then I just get on the treatment table and lie there until we go to bed in the evening. Tonight I will probably be on the bench for four or five hours, Kläbo told NRK in the morning.

According to Stowe, the skiing star has muscle tension all over the body.

– We have to relax the tight muscle tissue from the ankles to the head, the physiotherapist explained to NRK.

The American changed his autumn schedules so that he has been able to help Kläbo. Stowe is returning to North America next Wednesday.

According to Stowe, it is uncertain whether Kläbo will be fit for the World Championships in February-March.

– I can’t promise it, but we will try our best, Stowe, who also works as a ski coach in Utah, explained the situation.

The skiing World Cup season starts on the 25th-27th. November in Ruka, Kuusamo.
