Reservoir Dogs is one of Quentin Tarantino’s most popular films, the long opening sequence is already legendary among fans. However, as the director revealed, he found her “damn annoying” to shoot. And that’s no wonder either.
Quentin Tarantino put a lot of work into one of the best Reservoir Dogs scenes
He explained this to Film Comment in 1994:
the [Anfangsszene im Café] has one of the most incisive camera moves in the entire film. In the 360 degree movement we lose people and find them again. This whole thing was bloody annoying to film but actually the camera also just randomly captures people.

It is a longer scene in which the bank robbers have various conversations, such as about Madonna songs and the need for tips. The complexity of the scene is visible. On the one hand, the camera must constantly capture the speakers between the backs of their interlocutors and, in the best case, capture exciting gestures and facial expressions without causing the effect of a planned choreography.
On the other hand, in addition to the constant movements, different settings are used in different places. Besides, Tarantino couldn’t give instructions from the director’s chair, since he also starred in the scene as Mr. Brown himself. Nevertheless, the effort was worth it. For the past 30 years, the café scene has burned itself into the memories of ever new film fans.
