According to what Seeder Jaehyun Bae explains, the open-world of Project LLL will span about thirty kilometers and can be explored without any loading time. It also clarifies that the game will procedurally generate content based on player progress to make the whole thing dynamic. A priori, the graphics engine should be the Unreal Engine 5, the developers having paid particular attention to the animations – they notably used motion capture. The same goes for the weapon modeling which, according to Seeder Jaehyun Bae, is ultra realistic.
If Project LLL pours into science fiction, it is also part of the alternate history. “The game takes place in a world where history as we know it evolved differently following an event that happened in the past“, explains the man from NCSoft. Basically, the lore will mix both the 10th century of the Byzantine Empire and the 23rd century of the modern era, the themes evoked being mainly technology and human justice as it is the case in works such as blade runner, The Master of the High Castle or Total Recall.
Naturally, the Project LLL map will include many well-known places in Seoul such as the COEX shopping center, the Bongeunsa Buddhist temple or the palace of Gyeongbokgung. It should be noted that the initial choice did not fall on the capital of South Korea, Seeder Jaehyun Bae and his colleagues having considered other cities of international dimension such as New York. “But we felt it was best to opt for a venue that the teams were familiar with“, he explained, which allowed the development of Project LLL to move forward more quickly. Finally, concerning the characters, they will each have their own characteristics, and their personality will be highlighted by scriptwriting elements.
Project LLL is scheduled for release in 2024 on PC and consoles.
