Batman voice artist Kevin Conroy has died at the age of 66. Numerous players in the MMORPG DC Universe Online gather ingame for a funeral service.
Kevin Conroy was an American actor and voice actor. He is best known for his role as Batman voice artist since the original series in 1992. He has since lent his voice to Batman in numerous animated films, series and video games.
Most recently, he did voice work for the Batman: Arkham series through 2015, the Batman: The Killing Joke series in 2016, and the 2017 film Batman and Harley Quinn.
Kevin Conroy died of cancer on November 10, 2022, Warner Bros announced on Twitter. He is survived by his husband, Vaughn C. Williams.
Players host an in-game memorial for Conroy
Numerous players of the MMORPG DC Universe mourn their hero. They gather in-game atop the Gotham City skyscraper, where Batman is summoned via a light projector.
Youtube videos of ShatteredTwisted Joker and Legendary Squad™ show the gathering of players on the roof. You create a group chat called “RIP Kevin Conroy”.
“If anyone wants to comment on what a hero Kevin Conroy is – I’m live on Youtube right now,” ShatteredTwisted Jokey wrote in the chat.
The players also use the voice chat to talk about the deceased and Batman in general. “It’s great that so many across leagues have come to mourn the passing of a great Batman,” says one.
Not only in the DC Universe there is mourning for the actor. People around the world are saddened by the death of Kevin Conroy. Including the voice actor of the Joker Mark Hamill and many more.
