According to the results of a recent survey by Badoo, 64% of French people consider tattoos to be an asset of seduction. Long misunderstood, why are they so popular today? Doctissimo takes stock.
In certain situations (family meal, job interview, etc.), tattoos are still “taboo” for many people. However, a recent survey by Badoo – the dating app – reveals that tattoos are increasingly popular. They would even make you more attractive.
A tattoo would say a lot about a person’s personality.
According to this survey of 1,035 French people, tattoos, which were poorly perceived for a long time and sometimes associated with a marginal or even outdated image, are once again “trendy”: 64% of French people believe that tattoos are an asset of seduction (67 % of women and 61% of men).
To carry out their study, a question was asked to these volunteers: why do these drawings inked in the skin appeal so much? The answer: 57% of participants revealed that tattoos say a lot about a person’s personality:
- 36% suggest a tattoo reflects a person’s “creative” side;
- 10% see this as a mark of courage;
- 8% believe that tattoos are proof that the person is a good sexual partner.
According to Florian Ramos, Global Marketing Manager, Badoo: “Through this study, we wanted to celebrate diversity, and highlight the range of personal assets that make the French attractive. What is also interesting is to see how mentalities have evolved over time to make tattooing a real asset of seduction. Our wish here is obviously not to encourage the French to get tattooed but rather to encourage an inclusive discourse where everyone is free to do what they please”.
On which part of the body are they more attractive?
Survey participants identified body parts where tattoos are most attractive. Results: the arm comes in first position (34%). In second place in the ranking, we find the back (27%). In addition, 24% of French people believe that tattoos are more attractive when they are in a discreet area where they are not directly visible.
Patterned tattoos are much more popular
According to the results of the survey, 50% of respondents prefer tattoos with drawings, ornamental or geometric patterns. In second place in the ranking, we find sentences in foreign languages (27%), then animals (25%). Regarding the tribal, only 20.8% of respondents prefer this type of tattoo. Finally, in last position, with 18%, these are significant dates.
