Joonas Pylsy suffered a cerebral circulation disorder in the warm up

Joonas Pylsy of the Finnish men’s national floorball team has had a nightmarish past. A series of events that no one could have foreseen began in the warm-up of the Norway match in the opening series of the World Cup.

Joonas Pylsy, 32, was on the sidelines for the first two matches of Finland’s first season. He had been named in the lineup for the third match against Norway on Tuesday, but had to be sidelined during the warm-up. Pylsy got a muscle cramp and a dizzy spell during exercise. He was quickly delivered to the emergency room of the Swiss Life Arena and from there by ambulance to the hospital.

After examinations, it was found at the hospital that Pylsy has a cerebral circulation disorder. Pylsy is still recovering in the same Zurich hospital.

– We wanted to come out with the matter briefly. The phone is so full of messages and various speculations are circulating. Before going out, we wanted to wait for the critical days in terms of recovery and make sure that there will be no back pack, Pylsy and his wife Tea tell us together over the phone and continue:

– It’s been a nightmare here for the last few days. Now, however, the situation is becoming more stable. In the coming months, we will focus fully on rehabilitation and healing. We hope for understanding and peace from people. After this, we will not comment further on the matter.

On Saturday, Pylsy sent a video greeting to the Finnish team’s Whatsapp group – the reception was warm and tinged with numerous messages of congratulations and hearts. Officially, Pylsy was left out of the competition team on Friday before the quarter-finals, when a replacement was named Peter Kotilainen.

Pylsy missed last week’s Saturday and Sunday matches against Slovakia and Switzerland due to flu symptoms. On Sunday, Pylsy underwent extensive tests at the hospital and received a clean bill of flu and a play permit for the Norway match from a local Olympic-level doctor.

– There has been some speculation that the flu from the tournament was behind the symptoms that are now being treated. We want to cut the wings of those rumors – it has nothing to do with the case.

Pylsy, who hails from Vaajakoski near Jyväskylä, represents the Swiss Wiler-Ersigen at the club team level. He has played 70 men’s international matches, in which a handsome 47 goals and 35 assists have been produced. Pylsy has won two world championships and four Finnish championships.

As for Finland, the World Cup in Switzerland ended with a 5–3 victory over the hosts in the bronze medal match.
