In the Netherlands, 300,000 people live with a form of dementia. 5 percent – about 15,000 people – of them are still young, they were diagnosed when they were under 65. For these young people, often much more changes than for people who develop dementia in old age.
They often have a family, sometimes children living at home, a busy social life and a job. In the coming weeks, the ‘Margreet’ program will follow a number of these young people in our province. She talks about staying busy, making plans, saying goodbye a bit, love and, like this week, about the influence on a family.
