The capital is grappling with a goose problem.

The center party wants to shoot more animals and let the elderly and children munch on the goose meat.

– There is enormous potential, says group leader Karin Ernlund.

This summer, bathers were advised on several occasions not to jump into the pool at various bathing spots in Stockholm. This is due to a determined shitting and bacteria spreading from geese. Something that has become a problem.

Some measures have been tried, including an artificial fox. The center party in the capital now wants drones deployed to scare away the geese, writes Today’s news.

Not only that. The party also sees potential in eating more geese on municipal plates.

– We see that there is enormous potential to hunt more geese and increase the demand for the meat in order to get more geese shot, says group leader Karin Ernlund (C) to Aftonbladet.

How do you get rid of the birds in a metropolitan municipality like Stockholm?

– Of course, we are not proposing a large-scale hunt for geese in the inner city, but our proposal is that the city of Stockholm should serve more goose meat on the plate in preschools and care for the elderly.

“Didn’t eat extremely much wild goose”

If more animals are shot here and around, it will also be noticed at the swimming areas in Stockholm, Karin Ernlund believes.

– We also propose to lighten up the protective hunting in order to be able to conduct more protective hunting in more central parts of Stockholm.

The goose meat, which is traditionally appreciated in Scania, is known for being juicy and fatty. A pilot project with venison is already underway in the Skärholmen district.

The project has been very successful, according to Karin Ernlund.

Do you like eating goose meat yourself?

– Yes absolutely. Or maybe I should admit that I haven’t eaten an awful lot of wild goose in my days. But I have eaten venison on a daily basis all my life. It is tasty, useful and climate-smart.

The party will now take the proposals to the municipal council.

– I hope there are more parties that see the potential in this issue, says Karin Ernlund.
