IREN, Dal Fabbro: “Regeneration is the future and prospective key to our economy”

Utilitalia Luca Dal Fabbro Iren vice president

(Finance) – “The future must not only be that of waste-to-energy, but that of enhancing: regeneration is the future and prospective key of our economy and Iren is a candidate to be a leader in this sector. Only in the last year we have hired 1500 people, 50% under thirty. We are applying to hire the best and most competent people to carry out our strategic plan “. This is what the president Iren Luca Dal Fabbro interviewed on the occasion of Ecomondo.

Password ‘regenerate’. What is Iren’s contribution to the circular economy?

“As Iren Group we are very active on the circular economy front, in particular on three fronts. The first is that of rare materials: we have a plant that recovers precious materials from WEEE and we are building another in Arezzo. The second is the ‘water: therefore everything that concerns, for example, the reuse of waste water. Finally, the side of waste and energy valorisation. We are one of the most active multi-utilities in the circular economy. We do it in our territories but the idea is that of growing and, for us, the circular economy is one of the pillars of great growth that we have in our industrial plan “.

What are the other plant innovations you are presenting at Ecomondo?

“Wood recovery: we have a very advanced plant in Vercelli. The production of biogas from FORSU (Organic Fraction of Urban Solid Waste) in Emilia: it is one of the most modern plants in Italy that enhances wet waste and transforms it in biogas, a very precious energy because it is renewable. Another very important issue is that of recovering water losses. Lastly, the reuse of plastic materials that can be an additive element in the steel industry. We are therefore active on various fronts in the field of circular economy: from plastics to water, to rare metals, up to OFMSW which becomes biogas “.
