There are eight degrees in the archive – all so that the environment is optimal for the negatives and still images that are in Helsingborg’s photo archive. Among other things, there were pictures from the 19th century that were shown, and the employees are extra proud of the pictures by the Helsingborg photographer Ralph Nykvist.

– He is a well-known Helsingborg profile who has photographed a lot on Helsingborg’s streets. He was active from 1962 to 2010, says Anna Bank, photographer at Helsingborgs Museum.

New exhibition with Ralph Nykvist’s pictures

The latest addition to the photo archive came two years ago when Ralph Nykvist’s complete negative collection was donated here.

– Ralph has always walked with his camera on his stomach and photographed in Helsingborg but also in Landskrona and Malmö. He has a different eye for what happens in town. It can be humorous or what happens in everyday life that the rest of us don’t look at, says Therese Kruse at Helsingborg’s museum.

Duncker’s cultural center is currently preparing a large exhibition with Ralph Nykvist’s pictures. The exhibition runs from 10 December to 30 April 2023.
