Equality Minister Paulina Brandberg (L) objects to part of the Tidö agreement. The minister does not believe that prostitutes should be able to be deported due to a lack of good conduct, writes Dagens Nyheter.
In the so-called Tidövtalet, the government parties M, KD and L, together with SD, have agreed to investigate whether people should be able to be deported from Sweden due to lack of good conduct, including prostitution. Paulina Brandberg now tells DN that she does not think that prostitutes should be able to be deported due to a lack of behavior.
– The fact that you are exposed to crime or are part of a pimping mess as a victim, I don’t think should be grounds for deportation, says Brandberg.
– It is an incredibly vulnerable group that has such limited freedom. In some areas of equality, things are going in the right direction, but this is a problem that I rather feel is increasing.
At the same time, she does not see any risk based on how the rest of the government approaches the issue.
– Based on how (prime minister) Ulf Kristersson has communicated about this in retrospect, I don’t feel that we have different views on that issue, says Brandberg.
Paulina Brandberg is not the first to object to parts of the agreement. Health Minister Acko Ankarberg (KD) has also told SvD that the proposal to withdraw the right to interpreters in health care would be against Swedish law.
