Fantasy star is annoyed by criticism

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

House of the Dragons first season is over and has really taken fantasy fans with it in various scenes. The frequent and sometimes very bloody birth scenes triggered particular controversy. Actress Emma D’Arcy can’t hear the frustration anymore.

House of the Dragon star Emma D’Arcy thinks criticism of childbirth scene is sexist

She told GQ:

I’m upset by the idea that we shouldn’t see women realistically portrayed with blood and placentas. It feels like we just want to see women in a certain light. From an acting point of view, such physically demanding scenes are a lot of fun. But that’s apparently not allowed for female characters.

Queen Aemma (Sian Brooke) dies in episode 1 during a forced cesarean procedure. There are three more birth scenes in Season 1, some of which are just as drastic.

The depiction is controversial among fans. While some, like D’Arcy, celebrate the realism of the scenes, others lament the exhibition of female trauma (via Cosmopolitan).
