Hanna Öberg’s shooting during the last season did not turn out as she imagined.
But despite that, she hasn’t spent more time on the shooting range ahead of the upcoming season.
– I think I shot less, she tells Expressen.
Hanna Öberg is one of Sweden’s most successful biathletes with two Olympic golds and one WC gold on his merit list – and the award that weighs extra heavily is the gold medal in the relay together with Lynn Persson, Mona Brorsson and the sister Elvira Öberg which was salvaged during the Olympics in Beijing. A gold that also became historic as it was the first on the women’s side in a relay during an Olympics.
Shoots worse – but trains less
During the last season, Hanna Öberg improved her performances in the track, but when it comes to shooting, things did not go as well. The hit percentage landed at 79 percent, a figure that was Öberg’s worst in four years.

Despite that, she says that the time spent on the shooting range has not increased – rather the opposite.
– I think I shot less. Jean-Marc (Chabloz, coach) probably knows better, but my feeling is that I shot a little less this year than last year, she says in an interview with Expressen.
– I am one of those who shoot absolutely the least in the team. I really want to work with quality over quantity. I have really taken note of that. For example, I don’t like to shoot on rest days, then there should be rest for the head as well.
Change rifles
In order to increase the hit percentage for the upcoming season, Hanna Öberg has made the decision to change rifles, for several reasons.
– I haven’t changed very much, but a few things and getting to work with something new have given me motivation. We’ve had things on the old rifle that I wanted to adjust but that didn’t quite work with the material I had, so it felt like a good opportunity for a fresh start and in conjunction with that lose a few grams of weight.
