An American aid worker has been shot dead in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, according to two police sources.

The man is said to have been shot in his car as he drove into the street where he lived in the district of Karrada. What caused the crime is initially unknown, according to the data.

The man’s wife and child were said to have been in the car but were not injured.

Ned Price, a spokesperson for the US State Department, states that the department is aware of reports that an aid worker has been killed and that the reports are being investigated. However, he says that he cannot at this time either confirm the information about the death or that the person was an American citizen.
