The cancellation of the award-winning HBO series came as a surprise since the makers wanted to finish their work with Season 5 anyway (via Movieweb). Cheating a series with so much prestige to its finale for money reasons disappoints the community.
Nevertheless, there are solid reasons behind the dismissal. According to the Hollywood Reporter the ratings for the series plummeted after season 3 and apparently could not be saved despite a grandiose sci-fi twist in season 4.
