Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan continues his political protest march on Tuesday. He announces this from the Shaukat Khanum hospital. The protests were called off after the assassination attempt on him last Thursday, when Khan was shot in the foot.
At the same time, Imran Khan repeated his demand that the incident be investigated. He is again demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan and an army general, Faisal Naseer, as he claims they were involved in the attack.
The attack was carried out during Khan’s protest march aimed at the capital Islamabad. He was on a makeshift stage pulled out by a truck when a man with an automatic weapon started shooting in his direction. One person died and several were injured, according to former information minister Fawad Chaudhry.
The perpetrator was arrested in connection with the incident.
Imran Khan became Prime Minister in 2018, but was forced out after a vote of no confidence in April this year.
