Henrik Larsson is a giant in Swedish football history.

Henke’s career
It all started in small Högaborg, but it was in the summer of 1994 that the big, international breakthrough would really come. Then a young “Henke” got the chance in the blue-and-yellow national team that would shock the world and pick up an unforgettable and successful WC bronze from the soccer WC in the USA.

Larsson scored a total of 106 international matches and 37 goals for Sweden and he is actually to this day our best scorer in major championships with a total of 9 goals in the EC and WC. In 2005, he was also voted the best Swedish footballer by all Golden Ball winners at the Football Gala, this was before Zlatan Ibrahimovic took over and won an unparalleled 12 Ballon d’Ors.

“King of Kings”
But it is at club team level that the Skåne striker has received his great recognition in the football world. Larsson really poured in the goals for Celtic over several seasons and was nicknamed “The King and Kings” in Scotland after an impressive 175 goals in 221 games in the green and white shirt.
After that, the career continued to the big clubs Barcelona and Manchester United. Despite short stays with the giants, the Swede still managed to make a big impression and be extremely well-liked by teammates and supporters.

Favorite player
So you can safely say that Henrik Larsson played in two of the world’s most successful clubs and thus had the honor of playing with and against some of the best players in football history. But when he himself gets the chance to name both his favorite player and his favorite team of all time, it is neither a player he met nor a team he played for.

When the Swedish national team did a player survey with all players in 2004, Henke was asked the question that everyone is so curious about. The question was extremely simple and clear: “Have you had a favorite club or player?”
Then the national team striker revealed English Tottenham as his favorite team and the Brazilian giant Pele as his absolute favorite player ever.
