Several police patrols were called to the Sätra district at around 8.30pm on Saturday after reports of loud explosions. In a place outside, an injured man is found who is immediately taken to hospital.
– It can be concluded that these loud bangs are most likely related to the person being found injured, said Johan Thalberg initially. Later in the night, the police confirmed that there had been a shooting.
Several factors in the investigation indicate that the shooting took place in a criminal environment, the police said shortly after midnight.
The suspected crime scene is cordoned off and units on site are working on a series of investigative measures.
No suspect has been arrested. The police urge people who may have made observations in connection with the incident to get in touch.
Right now, several serious violent crimes that have taken place in Gävle recently are being investigated.
