Most people have heard stories about a cat stuck in a tree but this circumstance is quite unusual.
The City of Brantford posted on its Twitter account Thursday morning that parks department staff received a call from a pedestrian who heard what sounded like a kitten making noise inside a traffic utility pole at the corner of King George and Toll Gate Roads.
Brantford’s communications director Maria Visocchi said traffic services staff had minor difficulty getting the kitten out through an access panel because the critter didn’t want to let go of wires it was holding onto.
“Staff involved have been with the City for 16 years and no incident like this has happened in the past, as far as they are aware,” she said. “There was no damage that resulted from the kitten being lodge in the pole.”
Visocchi said two residents offered to take the kitten to the SPCA, however an SPCA spokesperson said Friday there was no record of it being brought to the Mohawk Street shelter.
