A gang leader in the Stockholm area is sentenced for murder plans.
The two intended targets are already dead.
The court sentences the 25-year-old to nine years in prison.
The 25-year-old man belongs to the criminal network in Östberga. He is now being sentenced for “in consultation with several other people” deciding to eliminate the leadership layers from what the police today call “the old Östberg network”.
It concerns the 34-year-old leader and a 27-year-old man, also high up in the network’s hierarchy.
When the verdict on the murder plans came down today, both the 34- and 27-year-old were already dead. The leader was executed in a hotel reception on Kungsholmen on December 22, 2021. The next day, his henchman was murdered near a school in Haninge.
The 25-year-old man is now sentenced to nine years in prison for preparation for murder. In addition, serious drug crime and serious weapons crime.
– There is very good police work behind it. The convict has a network connection and is a high-ranking leader. Thanks to the fact that the police have stopped him, made it difficult for him and checked him and his phones, we have succeeded in linking him to the crime and therefore he can also be sentenced, says District Attorney Daniel Jonsson.
Unholy alliance after bloody conflict
The court considers it proven that the 25-year-old used encrypted phones to communicate with his accomplices via the chat services Sky and Anom. There, the execution has been planned and information about the victims shared. The man has also obtained firearms and ensured that trackers are placed on the victims’ cars.
A 29-year-old man is also sentenced in the same case. He must have belonged to the competing network in Bredäng. Since 2013, the Östberga network and the Bredäng network have been in a blood conflict that has led to around ten murders. After that, an unholy alliance must be formed against a common enemy – the old Östberga network.
So the 25-year-old and the 29-year-old ended up on the same side.
– They have committed the drug crime together, says District Attorney Daniel Jonsson about the sentence.
The 29-year-old is sentenced to five years in prison, including for serious drug offenses and money laundering.
