Tomas Brolin is one of our greatest of all time.
But who is at the top of his list?
Now the icon mentions the biggest names in Swedish football.
Tomas Brolin was one of the world’s hottest players for a few years in the 90s. He had completely dominated during the 1994 World Cup when he got a well-deserved move to a real big club, as Leeds splurged for the Swede’s signature.
Points out the best Swede
Brolin did not have a successful time in England, and a few years later he ended his career, aged only 28. But despite Brolin’s less successful end to his career, he will forever be remembered for his great years in Parma and the Swedish national team, when he was one of the most exciting players in the world with his speed, technique and goal-scoring ability.
Brolin is also one of the few Swedish players of all time with a WC medal to brag about, and he was also the only Swede to be selected for the world team in 1994. Tomas Brolin is often forgotten in the conversation about who is the greatest player in the history of Swedish football, but in the podcast Tutto Balutto the question is raised.
The presenter Thomas Wilbacher says there: “After the 50s, 60s, if I say Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Tomas Brolin, do you object?”, to which Brolin replies:
– No, I’m right there on a corner? Then I don’t protest.

“Can’t forget it”
Tomas Brolin also does not think that older players should be forgotten, and highlights the legendary trio Gunnar Gren, Gunnar Nordahl and Nils Liedholm, who did great things in Italy in the 50s.
– You have to remember that these are different times. You can’t forget Gre-No-Li either, I think. They did fantastic things down there, together with Kurre Hamrin and many others. They paved the way, really, not only for us Swedes but for all foreigners in Italy, he says.
Tomas Brolin also looks warmly at Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and in the podcast he gets a question about their relationship.
– A fantastic footballer, he says, before continuing:
– I have met him a few times, he has signed autographs for my son. It was a bunch of years ago, but the few times we meet, we talk to each other, anyway.
