Weapon Tuning – What is it? In Call of Duty you can customize your weapons as usual in the weapon forge and forge according to your ideas. However, Infinity Ward has upped the ante for Modern Warfare 2 and expanded the weaponsmith even further.
Not only can you now customize your weapon and improve it with wish attachments, you can even tune your attachments.
This gives you better opportunities to get your dream weapon. However, the system behind it is a bit opaque at launch. That’s why we show you how you can tune your essays and why you should do it.
We have included the new Waffenschmied trailer for MW2 for you:
CoD MW2: Essay Tuning – That’s how it works
Important information about weapon tuning: In order for you to have the ability to tune your attachments, you must first level up your weapon to its maximum level. For the M4, that would be level 20. When you reach max level, targeting an attachment will open a new window in the Armorer.
Now let’s take the Corio Precio factory stock for the M4 as an example. If we want to tune this, we can use two levers that have a positive or negative effect on our values depending on the shift.
If we now want more precision, we push the lower lever to the right, but we also get a penalty on our mobility. The armorer is thus a double-edged sword.
Every upgrade has to be compensated with a degradation lest you run around with overarms. So think carefully about how you customize your essays. With the right compromises, powerful weapons can be built quickly in Waffenschmied 2.0.
Which attachment types can be tuned? We sat down in the Armory and figured out what types of attachments really do tune and came up with the following result:
The only components that cannot be tuned are:
Note, however, that not every attachment of the attachment types listed can be tuned. For example, the M4 has the “Demo D50 buffer tube”. This cannot be tuned.
Why should I tune my essays? In the history of CoD, players could only use their attachments and tune their weapons with these bonuses. Now Infinity Ward has given you more freedom to get even closer to your dream weapon.
The system may like to kill a player, since one often does not know which attachment is good and whether other attachments would not be better with the tuning. However, once you get into it and take your time, the system behind it will become clearer and you’ll understand which attachments would work best with which weapon.
So feel free to take some time, try out many options and test them out on the shooting range or in a private match. With the right combination, you will notice the differences on the battlefield.
